Black ops 2 -ps3 & Xbox Review
By Dishy-Fishy98 & mrYash Rulz
Black Ops 2 is a first person shooter developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. It is based in the year 2025, but also goes back and forth between 1986-1989 and 2025. It is the 9th addition to the Call of Duty series and is the first Call of Duty game to be based in the future. The game features: Alex Mason, Frank Woods and Jason Hudson. You will see some familiar faces from the previous Call of Duty Black Ops and some faces will be new, such as the enemy: Raul Menendez. The main protagonist is Alex Mason in the first cold war (1986-1989). Then in the second cold war Alex's son, David Mason is the main protagonist (2025). It starts off with David Mason and his partner Mike Harper visiting Frank Woods, who they think possess crucial information about Raul Menendez.
Black ops 2 is one of the most realistic games. Although it is just another Call of Duty game it has its unique spark. Pretty much all the guns are new and they even add a few new Tacticals and Lethals.
The maps are bigger, the guns are stronger, the score streaks are 10 times as deadly and beginners K/D's are going to be really bad.....Things just got a whole lot crazier!
XBOX REVIEW-
So this is MrYash Rulz, telling you about the newest Call of Duty game by Treyarch. So it's the sequel to my favourite Call of Duty of all time, CoD Black Ops. So like my pal DISHY-FISHY98 has stated above, Black Ops switches between two timelines, 1986-89 and in 2025. The characters have a special role in this game, and a commend Treyarch on creating such a deep and meaningful storyline that has an impact in both 1986's and in 2025. Another fantastic new extra in the BO2 campaign is the ability to change the storyline depending the on the decisions that are made. By cleverly devising this, Treyarch has invented a new way for people to enjoy the Campaign over and over, by changing their decisions to change the outcome of the game.
The Black Ops 2 campaign revolves around Raul Menendez seeking revenge after his sister's accidental death. He does this by threatening the entire world with a cyber drone attack. With the rivalry and alliances of industrial nations like Russia and China dominating the world, the USA is left vulnerable. The main objective in the Campaign is to understand Menendez's motives, and to stop him before he destroys the planet.
The multiplayer for Black Ops 2 is a mix between the previous Call of Duty; Modern Warfare 3 and the original Black Ops. The combination between the raw awesomeness of Black Ops, and the advanced warfare of MW3, the multiplayer offers some great gaming. It is extremely addictive and hard to put down, unless you rage quit from lagging out. Lag has been a serious problem with the Call of Duty franchise when it comes to online play. This game has less frequent lag, and barely any "Connection Interrupted" warnings. But an annoying problem is the "Error Modifying Session" report, meaning when the user is connecting to a lobby in session or about to start a new session, there is a connection to host problem. Treyarch needs to fix this because it happens often and is becoming a serious problem.
The new Moshpit game mode featuring Nuketown 2025 is a nice touch, offering Nuketown fans hours of explosive actions, however I feel that Nuketown 2025 should have been installed on every game disc, because of its connection with the original Black Ops. The game modes are similar to MW3 but its the new weapons and scorestreaks that you should look out for. The new weapons are slightly more futuristic, like the Attachments and sights. But its the scorestreaks that make this game futuristic, drones flying around the place killing people, the Attack Dogs are back, and the usual UAV's and care packages, the new drone scorestreak called the "Hunter Killer" is a low point requiring scorestreak and is a quick way of making a kill, and never fails. The Hellstorm missile (a modified version of the Predator Missile from MW3) is very annoying and is too slow. The rest of the scoresteaks are quite good and are very effective.
I personally prefer the multiplayer of the original Black Ops over BO2, but the Campaign was very impressive, and deserves more recognition than the poorly made muiltplayer. In terms of the experience, the Xbox 360 version offers a more hardcore gaming experience with High quality graphics and if you are using a HDMI cable, the graphics improve. The graphics are not too great, but satisfactory considering the game was created in a year. The quality of the game is also not that good, but I guess it's all about the gameplay. there are less glitches in BO2 then the first Black Ops, but there is still a lot of room for improvement from Treyarch, the game still feels slightly sloppy and really pixelated at times. I don't think Black Ops 2 is the best game out there, but I think it is good enough for 2013, expecting something better from Call of Duty next time.
